What does SANC stand for?

SANC stands for the South African Nursing Council. It's the official body responsible for setting and maintaining high standards for nursing education and practice across South Africa.

Who Needs to Register with SANC?

Anyone who wants to work with us and practice nursing or midwifery in South Africa needs to be registered with SANC. This includes:

  • South African citizens who hold qualifications from SA, or a foreign country.

  • Foreign nationals (including refugees) who hold qualifications from a foreign country.

  • Learner nurses and learner midwives undergoing education and training in nursing.

The Importance of Your Annual Fees

Every registered nurse or midwife must pay an annual fee to the SANC by December 31st each year. These fees are crucial for several reasons:

  • They allow you to renew your practice license, ensuring you can continue working legally.

  • They support your professional development through initiatives set by the SANC.

  • They help maintain high national standards in nursing care for everyone.
